Dr. Nenna Ndukwe was born in the UK and moved a lot with her Family, during her childhood. Because of her upbringing, having lived in many different places, she understands the rewards and challenges the expat community experiences.
She completed her education in the UK and became a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.
Nenna holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, a Master of Science Degree in Forensic & Legal Psychology and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology. She completed her Clinical training at the University of Teesside in the UK and became a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and Full Member of the British Psychological Society’s Division of Clinical Psychology.
Dr Ndukwe has extensive clinical experience working with children, adolescents and their families in addition to working with couples and adults. Her experience spans the area of mental health and physical health in a wide range of settings including hospitals, private practice, educational and corporate settings. She has also worked as an academic in Universities teaching psychology and conducting psychological based research at undergraduate and post graduate level.
When working with clients and patients, she views them as experts in their own lives and seeks to work sensitively and collaboratively with each individual, to reduce distress and enable each client to feel empowered.
Dr. Ndukwe has implemented training at different sites and participated in the development of numerous workshops and events to coach individuals and organizations in achieving their individual and professional aims:
Dr. Ndukwe is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, child and family systemic therapy, psychodynamic therapy, EMDR, stress management, relaxation skills, psycho education & grief and adjustment work. In addition, the extensive experience of having been working overseas with various diverse cultures and her own life experience of having lived in numerous different countries, shows that Dr Ndukwe is familiar with and able to offer support to clients experiencing difficulties relating to expatriation.
Dr Ndukwe has a keen interest in writing mental health and psychology related articles, contributing to talks & training events and providing clinical supervision to other mental health professionals.
Dr. Ndukwe has been working with children, adolescents, adults and couples. Her clinical experience includes work with clients who are having difficulties with anxiety, depression, stress, self-harm, trauma, eating and feeding difficulties, grief/loss, relationship conflicts and adjustment issues as well as sleep problems, anxiety, phobias, depression, eating disorders, body image concerns, self-esteem, anger management, conflict resolution, risk assessment, psychotherapy and trauma work.
She has also extensive experience in assessing psychological issues such as quality of life, coping, emotional wellbeing, adherence to treatment and intervention.
Dr Ndukwe has a special interest in working with clients who experience somatic complaints (relating to chronic fatigue, Irritable bowel syndrome, Diabetes, Chronic pain, Cancer, Specialist weight management, HIV/AIDS, Sexual Health and other medically unexpected symptoms).
