What is individual therapy?

Individual psychotherapy is a process in which a client works one-on-one with a therapist/psychologist. During those meetings together, client can explore his patterns of behavior, feelings, beliefs or life’s challenges. He can work through unresolved childhood issues, understand himself & others better, change aspects of his life and reach personal goals.

In order to fully benefit from the treatment, the therapeutic relationship in between client and therapist is very important. The client must feel safe, cared for, understood & connected and not judged or manipulated when interacting with his therapist.

People seek therapy for many different reasons. It could be because of dealing with depression or anxiety, coping with childhood trauma or major life challenges, or simply desiring personal growth and greater self-knowledge.

A client and therapist might work together for only a few as 6 to 10 sessions, or as long as several years, depending on each client's unique needs or personal goals about what he would like to get out of therapy.

How to get started?

Your first step is to call us to schedule your initial appointment. This first meeting well be a one-hour intake session with your therapist. You will provide some background information about yourself, the resasons you are seeking psychotherapy and what goal you would like to reach during treatment. Your psychologist will also discuss with you about the fees & payment, condifentiality & other concerns and what to expect from the treatment.

After this first session you will get a sense whether or not you feel comfortable and have the right connection with your psychologist. If you do feel that the two of you are a good fit, you will decide on a mutually-agreeable time slot for your therapy sessions ( typically, the client and therapist meet once a week, and each session lasts normally 50 minutes). At your second appointment, the actual therapy sessions begin. From here onward, you should be able to explore, figure out things and work towards your therapeutic goals.
